Thank you for stopping by and have a wonderful day!

Negative Thoughts

Sometimes negative thoughts can take over. They are a natural part of life and we can’t just get rid of them but it’s what we do with those thoughts that matters the most. If you continue to keep believing in those thoughts, you are not going to get to the place where you want to be. When you start having negative thought about weight loss, for example, you tend to just give up when you don’t start seeing the results you want to see. I used to be that way but finally realized that weight loss is not a quick thing, especially when you get older. It’s a very slow process and you have to be extremely patient. Thankfully I have finally found a way of eating that I enjoy and love and truly believe I can continuing eating this way for the rest of my life and have no real desire to go back to my old ways of eating. I do really miss pasta a lot but am trying to find ways to replace that. Zoodles are pretty darn good but just haven’t had them a lot lately. Maybe next time I go to Sam’s I will pick some up from the frozen food section. I don’t have the appliance to make my own and not sure I want to buy one just yet as we don’t really have the room for all those gadgets. The best appliance I have bought so far is the Dash mini waffle maker. OMG, the possibilities are endless with that thing.

Tonight I made up some “Wonder Bread” chaffles and some homemade raspberry jelly so I can have my peanut butter and jelly sandwiches again. They are so good!

Here is a picture of my jelly:

Yesterday, I did something a little crazy and decided it was a good idea to walk in 99-degree weather. It felt great to get a sweat on and I felt really good afterwards but I guess some people thought I could get overheated. I have always liked the heat when exercising because I always like to get a good sweat on. Here I am afterwards:

I really did want to go for another walk this afternoon but I was so exhausted after work and then the weather made me feel less guilty because it just started pouring rain this afternoon. Probably won’t get out tomorrow either because we have errands to run and the next day I am going to finally get a haircut. Decided to just go to the beauty school nearby since I only need a trim but couldn’t beat the price. Hopefully it won’t take them too long to cut. Wish me luck on that one. Ha!

Well, I better get myself ready for bed so I can have a good night of sleep once and be ready for another busy day of work.

Have a blessed evening!

Stalling

Well, I am definitely at a stall right now. I have been trying to cut back a little on my calorie and net carb intake the last couple of days so hopefully I will see a drop again soon and see that next woosh. If not, I may have to try a fast of some sort. I have tried the egg fast before but can barely last a day when doing that but may have to give it a try again or try the beef fast. I’m really hoping I don’t stall again for another 3 months like I did last time.

The other day I saw this cute quote or saying on Facebook. I don’t know where it originally came from but just loved it so made a digital page with it.

I just love my coffee in the morning and even ordered some new Skinny Syrups so can’t wait until I can open one up tomorrow morning to put into my coffee. That is all I use now in my coffee, along with Natural Bliss Unsweetened Half and Half. The best part about drinking my coffee that way, besides it tasting so good, is there are 0 net carbs. I was wasting so many of my net carbs before on just my coffee in the morning that I had to figure something else out and finally mastered it. Here are the Skinny Syrups that were delivered this morning:

It was really busy at work this week so I am extremely exhausted this Friday evening and have plans to just lay down soon and rest. I am one that always listens to my body and when it tells me it is time to rest, I rest.

Before I go, I will share what I ate today. I did pretty good so hoping to see that number on the scale go down a little tomorrow from what it was this morning.

Have a blessed evening,

Beach Day

Kit Used: Swept Away by Designs by Helly

Yesterday we decided to have a beach day. The waves were strong and mighty and knocked me out. I will have to say…I slept like a baby last night. I am still tired this morning but hoping the coffee will kick in soon. All I have to say is the ocean really does wonders for the soul, which is why I refer to it as vitamin “Sea.

My weight was up a little this morning. I was good with my net carbs, but I definitely went over in my calories yesterday. That is why it is so important to watch the net carbs and the calories. The fat and protein macros are good to keep an eye on too but, I believe, net carbs and calories are the most important. I know some people are only concerned with the net carbs but that just doesn’t work for me. If my calories are up then my weight more than likely will be too. Keeping track of what you put in your mouth is a great way to reach your goals. If you continue to eat mindlessly, you will have a hard time getting to where you want to be. Another thing that works for me and not for a lot of other people is I weigh myself every day. It really helps me to decide what I need to do for the current day as far as what I will put in my mouth. It also helps me to see where I may have gone wrong the previous day. For example, my weight was up this morning, so I looked at my macros from yesterday and saw that my calories were way over so knew that was probably where the issue was and I know today I need to do much better in watching those, maybe even eat a little under today.

Here are my macros from yesterday so you can see what I am talking about:

I brought string cheese, pepperoni slices and peanuts to the beach as my snack…..that is where I screwed up for the day. Here I was thinking it would be a great snack to bring but I should have only ate half of that. This is why it is so good to keep track of what you are putting into your mouth every day. It helps you learn what works and what doesn’t work. It maybe would have been better if we would have done some walking on the beach, which we normally do, but the water was so nice that we spent the majority of our time in the ocean and I don’t regret that one bit.

That is all I have for today. I seriously feel like I could go back to bed right now. Who knew that fighting strong waves would make a person feel so exhausted…..but it is a good exhausted.

Have a blessed day!

Down 1.4 Pounds

Well, I am down 1.4 pounds since my last post a couple days ago which I am extremely happy about because I was sure I was going back into a stall. I am doing a pretty good job staying within my macros and have been continuing with my intermittent fasting. Here are my macros and what I have eaten the last couple of days:

I am really hoping to finally get out for a walk tomorrow. It has been way too long and I can definitely feel it when it comes to my energy.

I made egg salad last night for sandwiches and put some cut up green olives in it. Oh my gosh, it was so good. I most definitely will be making that again. All it was was 7 eggs cut up, 1/2 cup mayo, 1 tsp black pepper, 1/4 tsp paprika and about 2 tbsp of chopped up green olives. I put that on top of a chaffle and had me a yummy egg salad sandwich.

I am a bit tired this evening. Sometimes I think I take on too much but I like keeping busy because it keeps me from eating mindlessly which can happen very easily if you are bored.

I hope this post finds everybody well and reaching their goals. I think it is time for me to lay my head down on my pillow. I think I am going to start jotting things down on a piece of paper throughout the day of things I want to write about. I have all these great ideas and then when I sit down to write, I draw some kind of blank.

Have a blessed evening!

Goals

I am going to share a picture of myself when I was in my 20s. I don’t know exactly how much I weighed at that time, but I do know I always wore a size 7/8 back in those days, and I always felt good and really healthy when I was that size so my goal is to be back there again. I know it is going to take some time and patience but I know, if I really put my mind to it, I can certainly do it!

I forgot to mention in my last post that I am doing intermittent fasting also. There are many different forms of intermittent fasting but the one I am doing is 16:8. I fast for 16 hours and eat in an 8-hour window which for me works best to be between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. I truly believe this works because I think it gives your body time to use up stored energy (also known as fat) during your time of fasting.

I did wake up to a little bit of a weight gain this morning but I am okay with that. I am still down 1.4 pounds from a week ago and my goal is to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week on average. The slower you lose the weight, the more successful you will be in maintaining that weight loss and keeping it off for good.

I was going to share what my macros were and what I ate by sharing screenshots from my Carb Manager app but that is proving to be a bit of a challenge. I will have to play around with that to see if I can figure out a way. I pretty much have been staying within my macros so have been doing pretty good in that aspect.

I did not get out for my walk today but really hoping tomorrow I can get back into the routine. A nice walk always makes me feel better.

Well, that is all I have for you today. Hopefully I will be able to check back in tomorrow. I am about ready to lay my head down and get me some good rest.

Have a blessed evening!

Making Some Changes

I have been wanting to do this for a while now……that is, taking my blog in a bit of a different direction. While I will still be posting on my digital scrapbooking, I also wanted to add in my journey of the new lifestyle I am implementing into my life of following a low carbohydrate diet. I am also going to share some positive outlooks on life because we all could use some of that once in a while, even myself.

As far as my low carb lifestyle change, it pretty much started the beginning of this year. While I have tried to lead a low carb lifestyle before, I never seemed to be in the right state of mind to get serious about it and stick with it. About three years ago, I had gotten to a reasonable weight and was feeling really good. We were living in South Florida, and I was walking almost every day and eating right. Everything seemed to be great but then I came to a realization that I finally needed to make a career change because the one I was currently in was a dying one and, in order to do that, I had to take some classes and study for a couple of exams to get certified as a medical coder. In between doing that, working a full-time job, and making a move to North Florida, I fell of the wagon real quick and gained everything I worked so hard to lose right back. I started out 2020 not feeling so great and knew it was time to take back control of my health and life.

I started out trying the keto lifestyle but after a few months realized that it was just not for me. Keto is just a little too strict for my liking. I need to keep things simple in order to stick with something so decided that low carb was a better choice for me. My goal is to keep my net carbs around 20 and my calories at 1200. So far I have lost almost 20 pounds and would really like to lose another 20, if not a little more. I know I can do it, it is just a matter of thinking of it as a “lifestyle change” and not a “diet.” I lost the first 10 pounds really quick and then stalled for 3 months. I have been losing again (almost another 10 pounds) but can feel another stall coming on. This is a lifestyle change that you have to be extremely patient with and to not expect a quick fix and I, personally, am okay with that. As long as I am losing or maintaining and not gaining everything back I work so hard to take off, I am happy. I have heard that when you lose weight slowly you have a better chance of maintaining that weight and, like I said above, I don’t really want to call this a “diet” but think of it more as a lifestyle change. I feel so much better when I eat this way so want to make it a permanent change and not go back to old ways.

While I am not a fan of keeping track of everything I put into my mouth, I find it is the best way to achieve my goals and the more you do it the easier it gets. I use an app called Carb Manager and it works pretty good for my needs and it is free. Yes, you have to do some measuring of the food you intake but it is the best way to control what you are eating. The app will keep track of the net carbs, fat, protein and calories which is pretty much all you need.

As far as exercise goes, my son and I try to go for walks as often as we can. Some days I am just too exhausted after work to do much of anything and other days the weather doesn’t seem to want to cooperate, but we do the best we can. I am not a huge fan of gyms; I just prefer to get outside for some fresh air and a good 4-mile walk. Once in a while, if we want to get our heart rate up a little, we go for a little jog.

I am not much of a writer, never have been and probably never will be, so most of my posts will be pretty short. I will mostly just be sharing what I have been eating most days, how my progress is going, what seems to work and what doesn’t seem to work, etc. I am hoping by doing this it will keep me more accountable and also hope to maybe help someone else out along with their journey in making a positive change in their life. Making changes like this are never easy and gets even harder as we age so hope any of my successes can lead you, my readers, to some success also.

I will also be sharing some positive, “feel good” posts here and there because, well, who doesn’t need that in their life once in a while. I try to stay positive in my life as much as I can. While it is not always an easy thing to do, it is important thing to bring into our lives.

While I am not sure quite yet how often I will be able to post, I am going to try to as much as I can. Life gets a little busy and hectic sometimes, as we all know, but hopefully I can be sharing my journey often. I would love to post every day but just don’t know how realistic that would be at this time but we will see how this all goes.

I am going to leave you with this beautiful digital page I made last night……

Just like the quote states above, “Every new day is a chance to change your life,” so come along with me on this journey and make some changes towards a new positive and healthy lifestyle.

God Bless and I pray for nothing but happiness and good health for all!

Supreme Team Contest 28

So I have decided to try to see if I can become part of the Supreme Team over at Go Digital Scrapbooking.  It is a 3-week contest where they give you a kit to work with and then they decided who moves on to the next week.  Here is my contribution for the first week.

love birds

The kit used is called Little Bird Page Kit by PattyB Scraps and is available for purchase now.  Really super cute kit!

I really enjoy being on creative teams as it keeps my mind busy and off of all that is going on right now for a little bit.  Also helps to keep me thinking about food all the time. LOL!  So, hopefully I move on to round 2 and you can see what I have created next.

God bless and stay safe!

ALFLT April 2020

Good morning my digiscrap family!  I hope you are all staying healthy and doing your best to stay in good spirits during this very stressful time in all of our lives.  I personally am an introvert so staying in the house isn’t that big of a deal for me so I am good in that aspect but sure feel bad for those who are extroverts.  I don’t know about all of you but I sure am glad I have my digital scrapbooking to keep my mind somewhat occupied.  I am also finding some good shows on Netflix to watch so I don’t have to be constantly watching the news which can really bring a person down really fast these days.  Yes, I like to stay current on everything that is going on but I also need a break from it once in a while.  I sure hope you enjoy my contribution to the train this month and I hope that we can all bring you a little fun during these no-so-fun times.
